M&T Bank, a financial holding company, and People’s United Financial, jointly announced the date of April 1, 2022, for the closing of their previously disclosed merger. The combination received final regulatory approval from the Board of Governors and Federal Reserve System on March 4, 2022. The banks will continue to serve existing customers through the same channels until a system conversion is completed in Q3 2022.
