Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, the blockchain business unit of J.P. Morgan Payments, has brought JPM Coin (ticker JPMD), its USD-denominated deposit token, to Ethereum, making it available to institutional clients on a second public blockchain after Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network where it launched in November 2025. The deposit token supports peer-to-peer transfers between institutional clients across the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem, and the Kinexys platform has processed more than $4 trillion in cumulative transactions, averaging $7 billion a day. The main objective is to give institutions that trade crypto and tokenized real-world assets a native onchain cash option from a major bank, with multi-chain flexibility and the potential for programmable treasury, building on J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s tokenized money market funds on Ethereum. Key players include Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, who called it a step toward multi-chain optionality for moving wholesale money, and Matthew Dawson, co-founder of Ethereum Institutional.
