Tradeweb Markets has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Trumid, an electronic credit trading marketplace, for about $1.97 billion, made up of $1.75 billion for the business and roughly $220 million in acquired tax assets. Consideration is about $1.89 billion in cash, largely from cash on hand, plus $82 million in equity, with closing targeted for the first half of 2027 pending regulatory approvals; the deal is expected to be accretive to Tradeweb’s adjusted earnings per share within the first full year. The main objective is to strengthen Tradeweb’s capital markets tech platform by combining complementary credit trading protocols, such as Tradeweb AllTrade and Trumid’s Swarms and Attributed Trading, with automation and AI-enabled trade decisioning, and to extend into grey markets and new issue trading so clients can go from trade inception to the secondary market on one platform. Key players include Tradeweb CEO Billy Hult, Trumid Co-CEO and President Mike Sobel, and the dealer and buy-side communities both firms serve, with Trumid strong among hedge funds and systematic traders.
