Homeward, an Austin-based proptech and specialty finance company that helps homeowners buy a new home before selling their current one or get cash offers for their property, has raised a $120 million Series D led by Saluda Grade, with participation from Continental General Insurance, Citi Ventures, Magnetar Capital, Norwest, and LiveOak Ventures, alongside a separate $330 million asset-backed debt facility. Its Buy Before You Sell program provides short-term financing and a guaranteed backup offer, with a 1% program fee plus monthly interest, while Sell Before You List offers a cash purchase and closing within weeks. The main objective is to expand its financing products and technology platform, which uses AI to streamline underwriting, and to take Buy Before You Sell nationwide by year-end; Homeward works with more than 25,000 real estate agents and has facilitated over $4 billion in transactions. Key players include Homeward founder and CEO Tim Heyl, who said AI “has been huge for streamlining operations and underwriting,” and lead investor Saluda Grade.
