Binance has made a $100 million equity investment in Circle Internet Group and renewed its strategic partnership to promote USDC across Binance’s global platform for a new five-year term. Under the arrangement, Binance purchased $100 million of Circle Class A common stock through a private placement at a 5% discount to Circle’s pre-closing market price, with Binance leading distribution and adoption of USDC while Circle continues providing the infrastructure that supports holding and using the stablecoin. The main objective is to expand USDC’s global reach, particularly in emerging markets, making a “stable, trusted digital dollar” accessible to anyone with a phone rather than a privileged few. Key players include Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, who called the investment a sign of “long-duration conviction” in Circle, and Circle co-founder, chairman, and CEO Jeremy Allaire, who said the partnership will help “expand dollar access, support savings and investment” for people and businesses in emerging markets.
