fomo, the New York-based social-first on-chain CRYPTO trading platform that has surpassed 1.9 million users and is on pace to exceed $2.8 billion in monthly trading volume, has acquired the proprietary software and intellectual property of Mobula, an on-chain data aggregator and infrastructure company, for a reported $17 million, with Mobula founder Sacha Marcus, CTO Sacha Delhoux, and Head of Infrastructure Cyril Conan all joining fomo’s engineering team. Mobula had already been providing fomo’s real-time data layer, and the acquisition brings critical on-chain data infrastructure fully in-house as the platform’s user base more than doubled since early July and its monthly volume tripled from $500 million in June to $1.5 billion in July and is heading toward $2.8 billion. fomo, backed by Index Ventures, Union Square Ventures, and Benchmark, is using the acquisition to support expansion into equities, perpetuals, and prediction markets while owning more of the technology responsible for processing and delivering on-chain data at scale.
