Polymarket, the blockchain-based prediction markets platform led by CEO Shayne Coplan, is in early talks to raise about $1 billion at a valuation of more than $20 billion — more than double the $9 billion valuation it carried just last October. The round comes only months after Polymarket closed an earlier raise at a $15 billion valuation in April, bringing in D.E. Shaw and G Squared as new investors alongside existing backers SV Angel, Dragonfly, and Valor Equity Partners, on top of a $600 million commitment from Intercontinental Exchange. The renewed fundraising push reflects explosive growth across the prediction markets sector, with Polymarket’s U.S. exchange doing north of $100 million in daily notional volume and its international platform recording daily volume above $150 million. The talks also come as chief rival Kalshi was valued at $22 billion in May and is reportedly pursuing a $40 billion valuation in a Q3 round, underscoring how competitive — and richly valued — the space has become.
