Equifax (NYSE: EFX) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Círculo de Crédito, Mexico’s fastest-growing credit bureau, for a gross purchase price of $825 million ($750 million enterprise value), acquiring 100% of its equity from existing shareholders, including several local Mexican banks. The bureau, the only one in Mexico operating both consumer and commercial credit bureau services, serves more than 1,700 customers across banking, retail, fintech, telecom, and microfinance, maintains a database of 2 billion tradelines covering 80 million validated identities, and generated $134 million in revenue (+31% YoY) with $62 million in adjusted EBITDA for the twelve months ended June 30, 2026. Equifax will deploy its cloud-native capabilities and patented EFX.AI technology across the platform, leveraging Círculo de Crédito’s alternative data, including gig-economy earnings, utility payments, and telecom records, to expand financial inclusion in a market where more than 25% of the population lacks access to formal financial products and nearly 44% are unbanked.
