MIZAN, a new proptech start-up from Smartlayer founder Tahir Farooqui, has launched a white-label home management platform for banks, insurers, and landlords that keeps one up-to-date record of a home, consolidating mortgage, insurance, bills, and repairs in one place and using AI to help institutions offer tailored products and improve retention. In the UK, MIZAN is focusing first on home insurance renewal, where an agent prepares the renewal weeks ahead and checks what has changed in the home; it is still in negotiations with UK insurers and large residential landlords in Germany. The main objective is to improve the relationship between homeowners and financial institutions by giving both sides a shared, permissioned view of the home. The company has been largely bootstrapped by Farooqui, who says it is preparing a $2 million pre-seed raise ahead of its institutional rollout.
