The Depository Trust Company, a subsidiary of DTCC, has launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), which mints tokenized representations of securities held at DTC, a custodian of more than $114 trillion in assets, that can be converted between traditional and tokenized form and delivered to users’ digital wallets. The tokenized securities retain the ownership rights, investor protections, and economic entitlements of their traditional counterparts; 20 DTC participants have signed on, including Citadel Securities, Fidelity Investments, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and UBS, and the service is integrated with the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with more networks to be added in 2027. The main objective is to bring tokenization into regulated market infrastructure to support liquidity, collateral mobility, and capital efficiency, following a December 2025 SEC no-action letter and limited-production trades in July. Key players include DTCC President and CEO Frank La Salla, Brian Steele, president of clearing and securities services, and Nadine Chakar, global head of DTCC Digital Assets.
