Nasdaq Ventures, the venture arm of Nasdaq, has made a strategic investment in One Trading, a European trading venue, to advance next-generation derivatives market infrastructure and continuously operating markets; the amount was not disclosed. One Trading’s unified trading, risk management, and settlement platform supports cross-collateral netting, continuous settlement, and automated liquidations at scale, aiming to reduce margin requirements and eliminate the need for a mutualised default fund. The main objective is to modernise capital markets tech for derivatives, combining 24/7 trading features common in digital asset markets with the safeguards of a regulated EU venue; alongside the investment, the companies began exploring ways to pair Nasdaq’s market infrastructure expertise and global distribution with One Trading’s cloud-based, low-latency trading and risk engine, including broader product offerings such as long-dated futures. Key players include One Trading CEO Joshua Barraclough, who said both companies believe markets must evolve to better support clients’ liquidity and capital needs, and Nasdaq Ventures global head Gary Offner.
