mika, a Berlin-based vertical AI startup, has raised a €6 million seed round led by Smedvig Ventures, with participation from Wecken & Cie. and existing investors Keen Venture Partners and Dutch Founders Fund. mika has built an AI-native general ledger purpose-made for German accounting, which takes over ongoing bookkeeping, VAT pre-returns, annual financial statements, and tax filings for small GmbHs and UGs, with trained accountants reviewing results and licensed tax advisers in its network handling individual tax advice. The main objective is to give small German companies an ISV-style alternative to the traditional tax firm for tax and accounting work that typically costs several thousand euros a year, and to continue developing the platform; mika now serves more than 750 companies, up from about 400 at the start of the year. Key players include mika founder and CEO Agnieszka Walorska, who said the requirement to hire a tax adviser at incorporation “cannot be how it works,” alongside CFO Luke Linnekuhle, CTO Henry Müssemann, and lead investor Smedvig Ventures.
