Unico, a Brazil-founded identity verification network that handles onboarding for four of Brazil’s five largest banks and operates in more than 20 countries, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Valida, an Argentine biometric identity verification platform with an established presence in the country’s banking sector and roughly 50% market share there. The main objective is immediate market penetration in Argentina as part of Unico’s “hypergrowth strategy” of entering key markets by absorbing already-established infrastructure, building on Unico’s 2024 acquisitions of Trully.AI in Mexico and Oz Forensics in the UAE, and OwnID in Israel in 2025; Unico also plans to open its own Argentina office as a regional technical talent hub. The deal follows a strong run for Unico, which posted 41% consolidated global revenue growth and 68% transaction volume growth in the first half of 2026. Key players include Unico LatAm CEO Luis Felipe Monteiro, who said the deal “consolidates our leadership in Argentina,” and Valida CEO and co-founder José Rolandi, who said Unico’s “financial strength” and “long-term vision” made it the right partner.
