Kapital, a Mexico City-based AI-powered financial institution serving small and medium-sized businesses, has raised $125 million in new financing split between equity and debt, led by Tru Arrow Partners and Fasanara Capital, with participation from Cervin Ventures, Niya Partners, and Overlook Capital. The round extends the Series C Kapital closed in September 2025, when it raised up to $100 million at a $1.3 billion valuation, becoming Latin America’s first AI unicorn. The main objective is to accelerate Kapital’s AI-driven underwriting and lending platform and expand into priority markets including the United States, building on second-quarter results that included roughly $50 million in net income, 220% year-over-year loan portfolio growth exceeding $1.7 billion, and 234% growth in deposits surpassing $3.5 billion. Key players include Kapital CEO and co-founder René Saúl, who said the capital will let the company “accelerate our next phase of growth” while using AI “to democratize access to financial capabilities” for SMBs across Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and the U.S.
