Yellow Card, a fintech licensed in more than 20 countries across Africa, Europe, and North America, has raised $40 million from SC Ventures (Standard Chartered’s venture arm), Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital to accelerate its build-out of stablecoin-powered payment infrastructure for businesses globally. The funding will expand Yellow Card’s global USD accounts, letting more businesses hold dollars, swap stablecoins, and manage treasury operations from a single account, while also collecting and disbursing local currencies through domestic payment rails in more than 50 countries. The objective is to give companies a simpler way to move money across emerging markets without relying on the traditional correspondent banking system, with CEO Chris Maurice framing the bigger opportunity as connecting banks themselves to stablecoin rails. Yellow Card already partners with Mastercard, Coinbase, and PayPal, and through Mastercard is exploring stablecoin use cases in cross-border remittances, B2B settlement, treasury management, and digital loyalty.
