Databento, the Salt Lake City-based CAPITAL MARKETS TECH platform for modern finance founded by former quantitative traders and high-frequency market makers, has raised $97 million in a Series B led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with participation from DRW Venture Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and Tribe Capital, a round that was oversubscribed and drew over $300 million in total investor demand. The company reached profitability with just 24 employees, retained 97%+ of enterprise customers since inception, doubled its active API user base in recent months, and grew revenue 6.6x without drawing down its previous funding round. The new capital expands Databento’s exchange-colocated infrastructure to 20+ data centers worldwide, adds 100+ petabytes of storage, integrates Binance spot, futures, and options data, and builds toward the platform’s mission of making institutional-grade market data available on demand for agentic AI workflows in trading and research.
