Ripple has taken an equity stake in Flutterwave as part of Flutterwave’s ongoing Series E, valuing the Africa-based payments infrastructure company at $3.3 billion, returning it to and above its 2022 peak valuation after three years of market correction. The deal integrates Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, Ripple Payments infrastructure, and the XRP Ledger into Flutterwave’s payments stack, with Nigeria as the initial rollout market. Flutterwave, which operates in 35 African countries, processes over $50 billion in transactions and holds a Central Bank of Nigeria VASP license, has assembled one of the most diversified STABLECOIN settlement architectures of any African fintech, and is also integrated with the Circle Payment Network, Polygon, and Stripe’s Tempo. The investment follows IMF findings that Nigeria accounts for 60% of stablecoin inflows in Africa since 2019.
