Nuvei, the Montreal-based payments processor backed by Advent International, Novacap, and CDPQ, is in advanced talks to acquire Payoneer for approximately $2.7 billion, a figure that includes Payoneer’s cash and implies an enterprise value of roughly $2.3 billion, in a deal that would combine Nuvei’s merchant payment processing with Payoneer’s cross-border payment network for suppliers, freelancers, and marketplace sellers. The acquisition would expand Nuvei’s presence in emerging markets and give it access to Payoneer’s major marketplace clients, including Amazon, Walmart, and eBay, where Payoneer has built a significant SMB base serving nearly two million businesses. A deal would reflect the broader push by payment companies toward cross-border and B2B payments consolidation, as growth in traditional processing slows.
