Nuvei, the Canadian fintech and payments company, has joined the European Payments Initiative (EPI) to integrate Wero, a digital wallet supporting instant SEPA account-to-account transfers, into its e-commerce platform, enabling European merchants to offer Wero through existing integrations. With over 40 million users since its 2024 launch in Germany, France, and Belgium, Wero is expanding across Europe with plans to add features like BNPL and loyalty programs to increase consumer adoption. The strategic move enhances Nuvei’s alternative payments portfolio and aligns with Europe’s push for financial sovereignty by supporting a unified, continent-wide payment solution.
