TikTok is launching TikTok Shop in the United States to leverage its substantial social media-based market penetration into a powerful e-commerce machine. The company will actively promote offers, discounts and coupons through its video content and the introduction of embedded “shop now” functionality. TikTok Shop also plans to target high traffic shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, going head-to-head with the largest existing e-commerce platforms for a piece of their market share.
