Prosus, a Dutch tech giant presently bundling Naspers’ fintech, eCommerce, and other international investments and businesses outside of South Africa, recently announced it would acquire BillDesk for $4.7B. BillDesk, a payments provider based in India, will combine with PayU, Prosus’ existing global fintech and payments business. The deal further signals significant consolidation in the world of payments and underscores the Prosus’ focus on developing markets.
